Gratitude, The Adventure

Meet CARRIE

For our extended stay in New York City, we decided to bring on a nanny to make sure everyone in the family would get the most from our time in the big apple. James and I had tickets booked to shows, to see the NY Rangers, and most of all, eagerly anticipated trying out some of New York’s better restaurants.

Enter Carrie, a born and bred local New York girl originally hailing from Long Island  but residing in Brooklyn. Carrie impressed James and I during our skype interview, she ultimately had the best knowledge of the city and would be able to keep the kids entertained with the click of her fingers. We agreed on a 3 day per week schedule with some nighttime babysitting too.

Depression, Family, Memories, Photography

Amelia

I met you online. Both pregnant with our 2nd babes (Ted and Liv) and I’ll admit, it was love at first read.

Our common bonds drew us close. Music, photography, love, family, food, the same wicked sense of humour. After our babes were born, we supported each other through those tough, foggy months of newborn.

I saw your talent as a photographer bloom and your business began to grow and grow. I was so bloody proud of you.

The Adventure

New York City Accommodation Guide

From early November till mid December, we spent 7 weeks living in glorious, gritty, amazing, intimidating, spectacular New York City. Our plans changed during our stay and we ended up moving around a little more than we hoped for.

Our first stay for 2.5 weeks was at the AKA Times Square Serviced Apartments. Located at 123 West 44th Street, only 1 block from Times Square, the location could not be beat to throw ourselves head first into the frantic city pace. We had a spacious 2 bedroom apartment which although had no view, it was whisper quiet which is unheard of in the city. Our kitchen wasn’t huge but more than adequate to prepare breakfast and lunch for the kids. On the top floor was a new communal space which included a terrace, residents lounge, bar and work space.
